jQuery FTW for March 6, 2009
Welcome to jQuery FTW (For the Win), my new weekly blog entry on new and interesting jQuery news. Each Friday I plan on sharing a few links to interesting jQuery items I've found over the past week. This can be blog entries, newsgroup postings, new plugins, whatever strikes my fancy. I hope that people find this interesting, and as always, your feedback is key. If you want to share something with me during the week, please do not hesitate to contact me: ray at camdenfamily dot com. Ok, so on with the news!
- Easily the biggest news this week was the release of jQuery UI 1.7. Released just this morning, this is a huge update to the previous edition and folks should definitely check it out. More details may be found on their new blog.
- Sometimes you read something and - well, it just doesn't quite click, but in your mind you just know it's pretty cool. Earlier today Ben Nadel (another jQuery-lovin', ColdFusion developer) posted an article on binding to non-DOM events in jQuery. As I said - I don't think I quite get the mechanics behind this yet, but it is pretty darn interesting and I hope to return to it. (I could just be slow. I didn't quite get JSONP till this week! I plan on blogging on that next Monday.)
- iHwy, Inc released a ListMenu plugin this week. I'm not exactly sure how best to describe it. It basically provides a nice interface to the type "A-Z" style navigation idea. The best thing to do is view the demo and see it for yourself.
- Next up is a blog article by Steve Reynolds, 6 jQuery Chart Plugins for your App. In this article he reviews different ways you can do charting with jQuery. I freaking love charts so I really enjoyed this article.
- The last thing I want to cover for this week is a cool tip I saw on the jQuery UI Tabs docs. The tips covers keeping links inside tab panels from opening outside of the tab. It is a useful technique that should be modifiable for other areas as well. ColdFusion has a nice function for this built-in, so it was cool to see the jQuery version.
That's it for today. Again, if you have something you want me to mention next week, please drop me a line.

ListMenu Plugin is interesting. Thanks for sharing, and looking forward to seeing more issues of jQuery FTW.
