Poll Revisit: What mobile platform are you most interested in programming for?
Back in October of 2008, I posted a poll that focused on the many mobile platforms and asked which platform you were most interested in developing for. Since that time Android and Palm WebOS have matured a bit and Apple also updated the iPhone operating system.
So, I thought it might be interested to run this poll again and see if the results have changed at all.

Also, please be sure to leave your comments on why you are voting the same as last year or if your mobile development platform focus has changed and why.

You may want to draw a distinction between "platform" and "device". I'm personally most interested in developing for the iPhone *device* because it's a beautiful machine and it has the largest user base. However, I'm most interested in developing for the Android *platform* because I like Java and can't stand Objective-C.
I wish those two objectives could be combined somehow, but I haven't yet found a way to do it. :-)
But where is Maemo? What hopefully replace Symbian.
@Greg: Agree with the distinction between platform and device.
For platform I totally choose the open and standards based Web,
W3C standards for the front end, ruby or php on the back end. And with this choice there is a wider audience.
For devices I prefer the iPhone, so I would develop a web app and wrap it on a Webkit view. And for more advanced stuff use CocoaTouch.
Rich, you need to add Flash 10.1 to the Flash vote, or a new entry for 10.1. :)

Flash for iPhone. With Adobe's announcement of Flash-To-iPhone app development exporting in the upcoming Flash CS5 Beta, I'm most excited about that.
I have no Obj-C programmers to leverage, but I have a great AS3/Flash developer that is eager to jump in to iPhone development.
And then when their Flex mobile library is completed, I'll be able to jump in as well.

Rich, You need to add Flash 10.1 and Flash/Flex to iPhone.
Thanks!
Snap on the Maemo point. As I have a N900 :-)
If all pass on iPhone development that company Apple will be a monopolist in the market. I, think it not absolutely correctly.
