QOW: What are you most excited about for 2010?
The world of technology is constantly in flux and 2010 seems like it will be a very existing year. With the many scheduled releases of exciting new Android phones the re-emergence of the handset wars in the world of mobile smart computing will certainly get ramped up. There is also sure to be an update to the iPhone and the continued rumor of an Apple tablet or netbook.
Then we have the upcoming release of the Google Chrome operating system. How will this all play out?
What about Google Wave? Will that have an impact in 2010?
Oh, did I forget about the upcoming mobile Flash Player, certainly not. Will make an impact and potentially change the game in mobile development?
What else did I forget? What are you most excited about? Please let me know.

Facebook Application Development
Probably HTML 5 .. huh?
Mobile Flash Player 10.1
Mobile AIR 2.0?
Both of these will be *huge* for my projects assuming AIR isn't held back till 2011.
AIR 2.0 will enable us to drop our dependency on Java and Merapi - currently we use Java runtime to do things not possible in AIR via the Merapi bridge. The UI is all Flex, but some things have to be done over on the JVM.
AIR 2.0 is adding enough new features such that we'll be covered (except for running Java applets for Oracle Forms - but as soon as we can complete rewriting legacy functionality, then that requirement will go away too).
I'm excited by how we'll finally see the first generation of cross-device interfaces -- workstation, pocket, and home screen. The initiatives started in 2008, and 2009 was dedicated to cooperation, planning, implementation... 2010 is when production starts. The January Consumer Electronics Show and February's Mobile World Congress promise consumer releases of this new generation of update-able network-enabled devices. Through the rest of 2010 we'll have to figure out new design/development workflows to access the cloud through any of various screens.

Definitely looking forward to the new Flash player hitting mobile devices. In particular I'm waiting for a phone by htc that uses a unique Windows 7 operating system with Android influences. Last but not least can't wait to get my hands on Flash CS5,, I was a little disappointed that Adobe decided not to release the beta pre release but I'll be there when it comes out!
Hi,
AIR 2.0 is also an Intel-only release but, unlike Flash Player 10.1, Adobe intends for it to stay that way. Fortunately, there's much more new stuff in the OS X version of AIR 2.0 than there is for Flash.
I am eagerly waiting fro the Google OS. I had heard that it takes only 7secs to start the PC and to work on that.

If Google OS is as good and as fast as people say it is, it would be awesome. I look forward to see it if it works out. However, selling and advertising Google OS would be an uphill battle because every computer that is sold has Microsoft in it. Not unless Google makes a deal with Microsoft, I guarantee you the OS will not get off the ground. Of course Google can build their own line of computer with the OS installed. wedding favors
Microsoft is getting fat and lazy. There's no competition so Google OS might just catch up. It will take a while but it just might surpass Windows. A good example is AMD and Pentium chips. No one thought AMD can compete with Pentium but they were very wrong. Besides, Google has already begun advertising their Google Chrome browser. It's just a matter of time. And... it's not like Google doesn't have money. koi fish

I disagree, Visa was a very over-hyped but Windows 7 is the future, split screens etc.Windows 7 rocks!
The Ipad is also very exciting, particularly if it is Flash compatible post the CS5 release.
You have mentioned some interesting new developments for 2010, some of which are here already, namely the Apple Ipad which just came out, and something I like but am not jumping on straight away as it is over priced. Although it does close the price gap between the Iphone and the mac, I still think it is too much, but I like it a lot!! I probably will get it knowing me..lol...oh yeah and also Micorsoft's Courier tablet PC is another one I like.
Chrome I have tried but no where near as Firefox, however something else interesting is the Google Wave. I ma reading more and more about this all the time, and have signed up for updates, but I am not sure how this will go. There is obviously the trend in real time communication as we have seen with Twitter, but will this 'Wave' last, not so convinced, considering Twitter is declining in popularity, however they have released Geo API for their apps
Finally I am looking forward to the ore widespread use of HTML5 to replace HTML, which means there will reduce the need for flash...
Ok that enough of a rant from me...sorry
